About Me: After studying Elementary Education at Furman University, I taught for 7 years in Charleston County at Drayton Hall Middle and Springfield Elementary in 4th through 7th grades.  I then obtained my Master’s Degree in Special Education from the College of Charleston.  I started my family soon thereafter and was blessed to be able to stay at home with my three girls for several years.  While at home, I continued my education and became certified to teach Early Childhood.  I was ready to return to education in 2008, when I started in Special Education and then joined the Ashley River faculty in 2010 to teach resource.  I'm on a new adventure this year as I am excited to be teaching 2nd grade!

My Philosophy:  Who we are is the sum of our life experiences.  As teachers, we provide thousands of experiences for our students in the short time we have with them.  We impart so much more than strictly academics.  Our moral obligation is to teach them how to conduct themselves with character and integrity while becoming life-long learners.  Teaching through the arts allows us do this in a way that opens many doors to a child’s mind and allows every child to make connections that may otherwise lay dormant.   I am fortunate to be a part of a school where all of this takes place each day.
